Trees make such wonderful subjects! One critic told me once, "All trees are nice, but you didn't make me feel this one was special". I thought long and hard about that critique - because at the end of the day I want to learn and I want to perfect my work. But, if I tried to guess what moved someone about a subject I intend to shoot I'd never get a shot off. I'd never have anything to show anyone because I'd be too busy trying to figure out what made other people react with a hearty "Wow!". I don't shoot hundreds of photos with an intent to impress. (Although when that happens, it's great) I simply stop when I see potential, ponder the story my subject is telling me, and immortalize the moment.

This tree is special to me because it's shape slightly less than perfect, it's standing alone in a foggy field and it's near to a road that looked less traveled. It is a sentry posting watchful guard, waiting for the sun to burn away the fog. It is a player in...

I want to leave a beautiful legacy. One born out any combination of quiet moments, brilliant colors, texture, daydreams, answered prayers and adventures. I don't want to ever look back questioning if I've lived passionately. I want to experience life to it's fullest and I want to have the photos to prove I have. Knowing in my own mind that I have is sufficient, sharing with others is a rewarding privilege. The world is an amazingly beautiful and mysterious place, so you'll rarely find me without my camera. I used to be somewhat self-conscious of this quirk, but have grown to enjoy being known for it in my circles of friends.
